Business bank account for your LLC: a preparation checklist

Prepare company documents, EIN confirmation and business details for your LLC account application, with guidance for U.S. and international founders.

A business account is a practical next step after forming your LLC: it gives you a dedicated place to manage company money and maintain clearer records. Preparing the application starts with consistent company documents and a straightforward explanation of your business.

Organize your company records

Keep your filed formation document and IRS EIN confirmation together. Check that the company name and ownership information match across your records. An EIN application form and an IRS-issued confirmation are different documents; identify what your chosen provider actually requests.

Mercury’s document checklist lists formation records, IRS-issued EIN evidence and identification for relevant owners and a person with operating control. Accepted documents and verification steps may change.

Prepare a clear business description

Before applying, put these details into plain language:

  • What product or service does the LLC provide?
  • Who are your customers and where are they based?
  • How will clients pay you?
  • Where do you actually operate?
  • What ownership structure will you report?

An agency can describe its services, typical clients and usual contract and payment process. Use accurate information that matches how the business works. A website can help explain the activity when its content reflects your real services.

Understand the address fields

Your mailing address and physical operating address serve different purposes. Mercury permits eligible international founders to apply, but requires existing or planned U.S. operations and a verifiable principal business address; Registered Agent addresses are not accepted for that purpose. Check its eligibility requirements.

Use the requested address type rather than entering the same address everywhere. Requirements for Wise or another provider must be checked separately; a document accepted by one service may not satisfy another.

How our banking guidance works

Our formation package includes support preparing for a business account application. We explain the usual sequence, help you organize company information and discuss provider options relevant to your situation. You submit the application directly, including private identity information, and the provider reviews it and decides whether to approve the account.

The included Wyoming mailing address supports correspondence; it is not a physical operating office. Keeping that distinction clear helps you prepare an accurate application from the beginning.

Your first step

Start with your company documents and a short description of the business. If you are still forming the LLC, email us to discuss our $699 Wyoming package and banking preparation. We also coordinate LLC formation in other U.S. states and confirm their service scope and price before work begins. No passport, SSN or identity-document upload is needed for the initial enquiry.
